Speakers

The Umbraco community thrives on people who share what they know, what they’re exploring, and what they’re curious about. Whether you’re dreaming of giving your first talk or looking for advice on how to move to a bigger stage, this page is your starting point.

Why become a speaker?

Sharing your knowledge and experience with the Umbraco community is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a developer, designer, or digital professional. Whether you’ve solved a tricky problem, discovered a better way of working, or simply have a perspective worth sharing, someone out there will benefit from hearing it - you do not need to be an expert!

Speaking at events builds your confidence, sharpens how you communicate ideas, and raises your profile within a community that genuinely loves to celebrate its own.

Getting started

The best way to get started is to think small.

Local meetups, both in-person and online, are a welcoming, low-pressure environment to give your first talk. The audience is friendly, the format is informal, and it’s the perfect place to find your feet.

Once you’ve got a talk under your belt, consider applying to speak at one of the Umbraco Festivals, the regional conferences held in communities around the world. From there, the natural next step is Codegarden, our annual flagship conference — and yes, community members just like you speak there every year.

If you have an idea for a talk but aren’t sure where to take it, get in touch with the DevRel team. They can help you shape your idea, find the right event, and make sure your voice is heard across the community.
