You can be nominated or nominate yourself! MVPs are chosen based on their community impact, contributions, and alignment with Umbraco values.

Contributions can take many forms, including (but not limited to):

  • Writing for 24 Days of Umbraco or Skrift

  • Creating Umbraco packages

  • Giving talks or workshops

  • Producing videos or podcasts

  • Submitting pull requests

Umbraco MVP status is valid for one year. To continue as an MVP, you can renew your status when the next application period opens.

MVPs are chosen by the Umbraco Developer Relations Team. We carefully review all nominations and applications, considering factors like the scope and impact of contributions, the way candidates support and inspire the community, and how well they embody Umbraco’s core values.

Not at all! While technical contributions are valued, MVPs can contribute in many ways—through writing, mentoring, organizing events, creating content, or supporting the community online.

All MVPs must abide by the MVP Agreement.

We open the applications around ~January each year with a deadline for applications in ~March.
